Minutes of a meeting held on Wednesday 25th November 2009, at 8pm in the Town Hall,
Market Deeping.
The Chairman Cllrs Broughton presided over Cllrs Howard, Lester, Pease,
Tokens, Miss Collins, and Ms Tray. Mr G West, Amenities and Open Spaces Manager, was
also present at the meeting.
1. Chairman’s Welcome
Cllr Broughton welcomed all to the meeting.
2. Apologies for Absence and Declarations of Interest
None received.
3. Minutes of the last meeting held on 23rd September 2009
It was resolved by majority vote (6 in favour) that the minutes of the meeting held on 23rd
September 2009 were a true and correct record. Cllr Howard did not vote as he had not been
present at the September meeting. This was agreed and the minutes were signed
accordingly.
4. Matters Arising
None.
5. John Eve Field Playground Safety Inspection reports
Mr West discussed his reports for September, October, and November 2009. The selfclosing
gates to the small playground had been damaged a few times, and so it was
recommended that a slide bolt also be fitted to the gates to allow them to be secured. Mr
West confirmed that he would be continuing to build up the edges around the wetpour
surfaced areas to prevent trip hazards, but that this would be ongoing works throughout the
winter. Members agreed to review the progress being made in the Spring.
6. Arboriculturalist reports for Welland Gardens and Riverside Garden
Members had reviewed the reports received for Welland Gardens and Riverside Garden and
agreed by unanimous vote to obtain 3 quotes for tree surgery works in these areas. It was
agreed that Full Council should consider the quotes if they could be obtained in time for the
December meeting of Full Council, so as to expedite the works as soon as was possible.
7. Plans for the replacement of the felled tree on John Eve Field
Members discussed the option of purchasing a 25’ tall English Oak tree to replace the felled
tree on John Eve Field. Concerns were raised as to the planting of the tree and members
agreed that a contractor should be used. It was resolved by unanimous vote to replace the
felled tree with a 25’ English Oak tree, and to use a contractor for the installation.

The next meeting was scheduled for Wednesday 27th January 2010 at 7pm, to be held in the
Town Hall, Market Deeping.
